Yannick Schilly, Anne Cappel bring unique depth in international supply chain and manufacturing operations to the region through their new venture, Altix Consulting Inc.
MASON, OHIO – After a 25-year career in production, engineering and executive management at Festo, Yannick Schilly and Anne Cappel, former executive director of the European American Chamber of Commerce, are joining forces to launch Altix Consulting Inc. Their unique boutique consulting firm, which will be based in the City of Mason’s Tech Elevator, will offer counsel in technology and innovation, global business strategy and operational performance to help companies navigate increasingly complex environments while accelerating their performance and profitability.
“With more than 50 years combined experience in numerous countries and across three continents, Anne and I have complementary skill sets,” said Schilly. “We’re excited to partner with advanced manufacturing companies to share our expertise in manufacturing and technology advancements, best practices in global supply chain management, sales performance and our deep understanding of multinational business environments.”
“Yannick and I are both French natives who spent our careers building trans-Atlantic partnerships and supporting international commerce across a number of industries,” said Cappel. “In a recent survey of senior-level manufacturing employees, more than 50 percent said that supply chain efficiency, product profitability, workforce development and technology adoption were high-level barriers to effective operations and growth. We are confident that we can offer manufacturers incredible value with our experience and strong alliances, but more efficiently and productively than larger consulting firms.”
Educated in France and Germany based on the German Dual Education concept with a degree in industrial engineering, business and management, as well as an MBA in general management and global business, Schilly began his career with Festo, a German-based, global leader in advanced automation technology, where he managed industrial engineering at the corporation’s Global Production Centre for 15 years. He then spent five years in China, managing and growing operations through the post-mergers and acquisition integration of a Chinese company.
Schilly’s work in Europe and China spanned functions including production management, industrial engineering, new product development, logistics and supply chain, and sales and operations across multiple industry sectors, such as automotive, food and beverage, printing and packaging, automation and robotics, electronics and machine builders. In Schilly’s most recent role as Festo’s chief operating officer, he led the construction of Festo’s $60-million, 200,000-square-foot smart factory in the City of Mason and the relocation of North American supply chain operations from the East Coast to Ohio.
“I had a wonderful time, and I was blessed to work for one of the best and most innovative companies in the world. I will certainly miss my friends and colleagues at Festo,” Schilly said.
Cappel brings an extensive trans-Atlantic business network and keen understanding of American and European cultural and economic climates. Through her work at the European American Chamber of Commerce in Cincinnati, Cappel gained valuable insights into how global companies can successfully manage international growth.
“In an age of technology disruption, we believe speed is the new currency,” Cappel said.
With their expansive knowledge and experience across all aspects of manufacturing operations, Schilly and Cappel were inspired to move into an entrepreneurial direction, which led to the creation of Altix Consulting. Altix will support clients in increasing their profitability through state-of-the-art tools and methods, leveraging Schilly and Cappel’s global network of industry and business experts.
“The global economy is doing extremely well, and long-term, macro-economic trends are supported by population growth and a pace of technology and innovation humankind has never seen before,” said Schilly. “In addition, the current U.S. administration has put a focus on bringing manufacturing back to the United States. We want to support these reshoring efforts, including navigating global business complexities, to help redesign and rebuild clusters of manufacturing ecosystems necessary to compete with the dynamic emerging markets and other industry champions in Europe and Asia.
“For this, we need a strong supplier base, advanced technology and research and development clusters, excellent and modern infrastructure, and, most importantly, a qualified and motivated talent pipeline ready for the future of industry and manufacturing, the workforce 4.0.”
“We are looking forward to contributing to making our region even more competitive and to helping manufacturers realize their global and international ambitions,” said Cappel. “We look forward to those discussions, and we are very hands-on in execution.”
The new firm is located at 5155 Financial Way in the City of Mason’s Tech Elevator, bringing a unique set of resources to Mason’s and the region’s thriving technology and advanced manufacturing ecosystem and helping to drive international supply chain growth throughout the city, region and state.
“At Festo, Yannick was an early and strategic partner with the city, not only growing the company’s Mason-based Regional Service and Manufacturing Center, but also making significant investments in our schools and community,” said City of Mason Economic Development Director Michele Blair. “We’re excited to welcome Altix Consulting to the Mason Tech Elevator and to collaborate with Yannick and Anne in new ways to expand manufacturing within our startup and innovation sector.”
